Gearing up for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 12, the Auxiliary of Nexus is providing all types of ideas for area moms to put on their wish lists and for youngsters and fathers to check out.
Taking place at “a local country club” on Monday, April 15, the 2024 Mothers’ Day Brunch and Bazaar will be chaired by Texas-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rachel Stacy, who has been mentored by the legendary Ray Wylie Hubbard.
Having been in recovery for 11 years, Rachel “uses her music and voice as a beacon of hope rather than dwelling on the past.
According to Rachel, “My goal now is to try to inspire other people — especially women — to continue in their endeavors with music and art. My mission is all about wanting to be a good example: not just for younger artists just starting, but for ones at that age — my age —where society might be telling them, ‘You’re too old for this, you need to quit.’ Because no, you don’t.”
Joining Rachel will be Honorary Co-Chairs Lili Luth and Laura Sahliyeh.
As for the Mothers’ Day shopping opportunities, the following vendors will be popping up for guests to check out: Avery’s Savory Popcorn, Deborah Gaspar Jewelry Collection, Pharaō Jewelry, Toni’s Toffee, TX Brisket Biscuit, Artesanias Zahira Darwish, and many more.
In addition to perusing, there will be a raffle, great food and inspirational stories.
With tickets going for $250, proceeds will allow Nexus Recovery Center to provide “comprehensive services, specializing in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and trauma-informed care for women and their children.”
