Community Partners of Dallas’ Chick Lit flock has been holding its collective breath for word on the details for the luncheon on Friday, March 22, at the Hilton Anatole.
Well, the word just arrived!
2024 Chick Lit Luncheon Co-Chairs Cathy James and Lisa Ogle and Honorary Chair Christine McKenny have finally shared all the information, including that the 2024 recipient of the Paige McDaniel Partners for Children Award will be Capital for Kids.
Returning as the presenting sponsor are Lara and Dr. Robert Tafel.
As for the keynoter, let’s have some fun to discover which multi-talented person will be onstage for the visit. Here are some hints:
- The person is a woman.
- While her spouse is known for his acting chops, she has earned her own professional reputation as an actress, producer, a singer and songwriter.
- Attended Princess Diana’s funeral.
- Admits “The Greek side of me definitely loves a good meal, a lot of laughing, loud discussions.”
- A breast cancer survivor, she has served as honorary co-chair of the Women’s Cancer Research Fund.
- In 1972, she made her television debut on “The Brady Bunch” as Marcia’s rival for the head cheerleader.
- Was not arrested for “stealing a scene” in “Sleepless in Seattle.” Warning: If you click the link, you’ll want to watch “An Affair To Remember.”
- While her birth name was Margarita Ibrahimoff, her father changed the family name to “Wilson” since that was the name of the street they lived on.
While you’re mulling over your guesses, make sure that you have your table/sponsorship locked down for the wine reception, seated luncheon and a conversation. BTW, individual tickets, if any, won’t be available until March.
And for the answer, just in case you’re stumped, follow the jump!

Rita Wilson is a multi-talented singer/songwriter, actress and producer. Wilson’s music has been hailed as “inspiring” by Rolling Stone and “uplifting” by USA Today. She has toured the world over performing on such iconic stages as the Grand Ole Opry and The Sydney Opera, and marquee music festivals including CMA Fest and Stagecoach. Her five acclaimed studio albums include her latest star-studded, “Rita Wilson Now & Forever: Duets” featuring Willie Nelson, Smokey Robinson, Jackson Browne, Tim McGraw, Elvis Costello, Keith Urban, Leslie Odom Jr., Josh Groban, Vince Gill and Jimmie Allen.
Wilson first donned her producers cap for the record-breaking box-office hit, My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Her instincts proved solid once again when she saw the theatrical production of Mamma Mia! in London shortly after it opened. Wilson’s love of ABBA’s music led her to secure the rights and develop the film, serving as a producer on the hit that starred Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, and as Executive Producer for its sequel, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!
In 2019, Wilson received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrating her rich and legendary film career and was later honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in 2021.
