Dallasites seem to think nothing of hopping on a jet to the Big Apple or LA for an event. But when it’s heading just 30 miles west to Big D’s kissing cousin Fort Worth … well, faces look bewildered, as if they were going to a foreign country.
Pity the poor souls who haven’t journeyed to Cowtown.
But there’s a perfect excuse to go west — Stars In Recovery Luncheon.

Taking place at River Ranch Stockyards on Tuesday, May 14, the Recovery Resource Council fundraiser gathering is pretty impressive, with Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker serving as honorary chair and former First Daughter Susan Ford Bales as the keynote speaker.
In addition to being a “distinguished author, photo journalist and former chairman of the board of the Betty Ford Center (aka now the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation), Susan will share her personal experience with familial addiction,” but will “also highlight groundbreaking work with her mother to advocate for public awareness and effective treatment of substance use disorders.”
Recover Resources Council has campuses in Fort Worth, Dallas and Denton and is considered “the most comprehensive non-profit behavioral health provider in North Texas, offering a pathway to recovery since 1946.”
The luncheon’s proceed will support it mission to promote wellness and recovery from disorders relating to alcohol, substance use, trauma and mental health.
Sponsorships range from $1,500 to $25,000, with individual tickets going for $250.
And if you’re still a little wary about finding your own way to River Ranch Stockyards, there’s always Uber.
