UPDATE (December 31, 2023): Unfortunately, the very last day of the year ended with the passing of another person who strove to make a difference for good — Eddie Bernice Johnson. Before turning the calendar to a whole new year of hope and goals, area non-profits have suffered mighty losses this past year losing people whose selfless contributions provided support by their leadership, volunteering and generosity.
However, their legacies will continue thanks to family, friends and even strangers who have been inspired by their examples to continue to help the non-profits build for a better community.
Their examples and accomplishments are invaluable ingredients that will have an ongoing impact in the years to come.
While many have passed away, MySweetCharity has included just a few whose support of North Texas non-profits was an investment in the future:
- Margaret “Bette” Perot (January 3)
- Betty Turner (January 30)
- Richard Marcus (February 4)
- John McStay (March 21)
- Gregg Hudson (April 7)
- Jerrie Marcus Smith (March 31)
- Norma Hunt (June 3)
- Linda Gibbons (June 15)
- John Criswell (July 12)
- David Kunkle (July 19)
- Peggy Braecklein (July 11)
- Barry Andrews (September 19)
- Mike Wyatt (September 24)
- Carl Anderson (October 13)
- Agness Robertson (October 16)
- Bryan Dunagan (October 26)
- Jere Thompson (December 19)
In reviewing the list of those lost during 2023, one person remarked, “We and our generations to come are better for their presence in our lives.”
Lee Ann White says
Barry Andrews was a dear friend of ours.
He was a great example of always helping people and charities in Dallas.
He left the world a better place.
We miss him dearly!
