While horses around the nation are in training for the big event that’s just five months away, the Turtle Creek Conservancy has already corralled its leadership for its 16th annual Day at the Races Kentucky Derby Watch Party on Saturday, May 4.
While Co-Chairs Melissa Sherrill Martin and her husband Ross Martin are keeping the underwriting and honorary chairs under their chapeaus, they’re already on track with wo/manpower and teamwork.
On board “as special advisors” are 2023 DATR Co-Chairs Katherine and Austin Wyker, who are “assisting in the recruitment of host committee members.” As a perk for being on the committee, there will be a kickoff party in February.
For patrons, guests and sponsors, there will be a private get-together in the weeks leading up to the Turtle Creek Conservancy fundraiser.
And speaking of sponsors, Truist Bank has already signed up again as the presenting sponsor.
If you haven’t attended the party, you’ve missed mint juleps, Southern-inspired cuisine, an open bar, live music, dancing, a “wagering wall,” a live auction and watching “the fastest two minutes in sports on the huge screen.”
