According to The Senior Source Friendly Visitor Manager Marsha Evans,

“It’s that time of year when everyone starts shopping for their kids and grandkids for the holidays. Or maybe your family has a tradition to donate to children in need through various nonprofits or ‘angel trees’ at your nearest mall. While those are all worthy causes, I earnestly invite you to add older adults to your gift list, too, this holiday season! An overwhelming number of older adults in nursing homes and assisted living facilities rarely receive visitors or have adequate family support systems.

“We serve over 16,000 older adults residing in 280 Dallas County long-term care facilities. For more than 20 years, we have relied on the generous support of compassionate donors and volunteers to help our most often forgotten older adults feel special and loved during the holiday season.

“You can pay if forward and make a big impact in the lives of our clients in three easy ways.

  1. “Order directly from The Senior Source’s Wish List at Amazon.
  2. “Mail or deliver in-person, new, unwrapped gifts** to the following address:
The Senior Source (Attention: Marsha Evans)
    3910 Harry Hines Blvd
    Dallas, TX 75219
    Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (except Thursday, November 23, and Friday, November 24).
  3. “Make a financial contribution to help us purchase gifts clients may need. Donate now at https://theseniorsource.org/donate/ and indicate Holiday Drive.

“The deadline to purchase and drop-off new, unwrapped gifts is Monday, December 4.

“For more than 60 years, The Senior Source’s mission has been to enhance the quality of life for older adults in greater Dallas. We are proud to be the go-to resource for 25,000 older adults each year including financial or long-term care guidance, or a way to connect with others through volunteerism. “Our Friendly Visitor Volunteers are compassionate individuals and groups who engage in fun and meaningful activities with residents living in long-term care facilities to build social connections and to enrich their lives. Reach out to me at [email protected] or 214-525-6131 if you’d like to help during the holidays – or any time of year for that matter! You can learn more at www.theseniorsource.org.

“Thank you for your incredible support!”
