Just as lovers of couture gathered at the Dallas Museum of Art four years ago to see the dazzling collection of Christian Dior’s legendary fashions, so car aficionados feel the same way when the opportunity presents itself to view wheels of distinction. On Thursday, October 5, 2023 Crystal Charity Ball Chair Angie Kadesky selected just the right venue to hold the annual dinner honoring the supportive husbands of the CCB committee members — the Shelby Family Collection in Dallas.
Featuring top-shelf vehicles created by the late Carroll Shelby, it’s a private showroom that’s not open to the public. But following the old refrain, “It’s not what you know; it’s who you know,” Angie realized that the collection had been curated lovingly and meticulously by Carroll’s son Patrick Shelby, and his sons, including Aaron Shelby, whose wife Brooke Shelby is a CCB committee member.
Adding a fashionable touch to the evening was the presence of Anna Moore of Clements and Church, representing the CCB raffle’s “Couples Custom Wardrobe and British Motoring Experience” valued at $10,000.
Was it a successful night despite the nearby Bush Center being in lockdown due to a threatening email? According to the evening’s presenting underwriter Chuck Thoele, “This is the best Husbands Party ever!”
