Before October’s flood of events got underway, North Texas non-profits were high-rolling with the Junior League of Dallas celebrating Kathleen Gibson as the 2024 Sustainer of the Year, Scottish Rite for Children taking full advantage of the beautiful weather for its Treasure Street and Bachendorf’s in Preston Center hosting the 2023 Zoo To Do host committee.
One of the people being pulled in many directions was 2023 JLD Sustainer of the Year Pam Busbee. Despite being honorary chair of the Turtle Creek Park Conservancy‘s Luminary Dinner Champagne Reception, she felt it was bad form not to be present for Kathleen’s reveal. She felt it wasn’t enough to congratulate Kathleen with a text saying to enjoy the honor. Pam laughed that during her tenure, it was like being queen for a day for a year.
Still, on this evening in an updated Arlington Hall with new paint and curtains, Pam’s reveal was part of the evening’s program that included an update on Arlington Hall’s Dream Hall Makeover.

As Turtle Creek Park Conservancy President Tiffany Divis told the crowd, including Angie Kadesky, Laura Downing, Patti Flowers, Turtle Creek neighbor Jo Staffelbach Heinz, Pam’s relatives (daughter Beverly Dealey Glenewinkel and Spencer Glenewinkel), Lauryn Smith and friends from Tyler (Beth and T Bright) and Truist’s Kyla and DeVon Lang and Renda Mathew, the grounds that had been devastated by the past year of climate challenges were in major recovery mode. In addition, the interior of Arlington Hall was a work in progress, with sponsorship opportunities available. For instance, naming rights for the ballroom with its two legendary crystal chandeliers were going for $70,000.
But the main purpose of the gathering was to provide details about the Luminary Dinner that is an invite-only supper for large TCPC supporters Master Gardener Level ($5,000) and above. According to Tiffany, the dinner is scheduled for Thursday, November 9.
It’s not too late to sign up to be part of the supper and/or the Dream Hall Makeover.
