Cristo Rey Dallas (CRD) has been busy over the years educating kids and literally growing in Pleasant Grove. Why, it even celebrated the first college graduation class this past year. But more about that in a couple of paragraphs.
Thursday night, longtime education advocates Micki and Mike Rawlings held the kickoff for Cristo Rey’s 2024 Grow The Grove fundraiser at their swell digs in Preston Hollow.
Gathered was a crowd of folks in early before the Texas Rangers faced off against the Houston Astros (with a not-so-happily-ever-after ending resulting). CRD President Patrick Walsh joined the Rawlings, who will serve as Grow the Grove’s honorary co-chairs, and event Co-Chairs Hilda and Mike Galvan to announce plans for the fundraiser that will take place at the Thompson Hotel Dallas on Friday, April 5.
This year’s tip o’ the hat will go to Cheryl and Richard Joyner, who will receive the Luminous Award.
The Ignite Award, which honors a business leader for their commitment to CRD and its innovative Corporate Work Study Program, will be presented to Jack Fraker.
Also during the get-together, CRD graduate Max Hernandez — joined by his classmates America Rodriguez, Emmanuel Moreno and Alejandrao Leyva — “shared his experience as a CRD alumnus and how it’s allowed him to be one step ahead as a recent Marquette University graduate and a newly hired engineer at Lockwood, Andrews and Newman.”
Sponsorships for the evening of wining and dining and learning about CRD’s success range from $1,250 to $50,000.
