According to Resource Center Chief Executive Officer Cece Cox,
“Resource Center strives to create a more inclusive, equitable society by raising awareness around the pertinent issues facing our community and providing a wide range of programs and services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual and more (LGBTQIA+) North Texans — in addition to providing critical assistance to people living with HIV and AIDS. For more than 40 years, Resource Center has offered a welcoming place and critical assistance for those within the LGBTQIA+ community.
“As Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day approaches, I encourage you to think about the invaluable services provided to our clients, as well as our crucial mission in fostering a stronger and more accepting community here in North Texas.
“Resource Center is a safe place where everyone can embrace their true selves without fear of judgment or discrimination. For many, this space becomes a second home and a place where they are celebrated for their uniqueness and their struggles are understood. At Resource Center, countless members of our community find solace, friendship and healing through numerous support programs designed to serve our community no matter a person’s age, ethnicity or HIV status.
“Resource Center has participated in Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day for over a decade, raising $15,000 in our first year, and nearly $90,000 last year. Your financial support directly impacts the more than 62,000 people each year who benefit from our services ranging from medical, dental, nutritional, mental health, housing and financial support through our multiple clinics and facilities throughout the Dallas area. For 40 years, Resource Center has remained strong because of our community of donors and volunteers that have helped us along the way. North Texas Giving Day is a reminder of the critical role our community plays in championing this work into the future.
“Isolation and loneliness can bring significant challenges to LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially in young people. Resource Center acts as a community-building center, where people can connect with others and find a sense of belonging. Through our multiple programs, support groups and networking events the Center encourages personal growth, resilience and a sense of unity. By donating to the Center on North Texas Giving Day, we nurture this spirit of camaraderie and provide a lifeline to those who may feel marginalized or alone.
“Beyond our walls, Resource Center strives to stand up for our community through advocacy work. Through our collaborations with local governments, businesses and organizations, Resource Center has been a fierce advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, including traveling to Austin to testify on behalf of our LGBTQIA+ neighbors here in North Texas. Our advocacy team is focused on empowering Texans to stand up for their rights and to demand equality and justice for all.
“Resource Center serves as a lifeline for countless individuals in North Texas, offering support, advocacy and a sense of belonging. This North Texas Giving Day, let’s come together to support our local LGBTQIA+ community and show our unwavering support for inclusivity, equality, and love. By contributing to this invaluable organization, we have the power to change lives, foster acceptance and build a more compassionate society here in North Texas.”
