According to Children’s Chorus of Greater North Texas Executive Director Randi Kuykendall,
“Let the Children Sing envisions a community where children of all backgrounds have the opportunity to be a part of a local chorus, sharing their interests and talents.
“Oftentimes, families are unable to afford tuition to put their children into special groups because of financial strains. At Children’s Chorus of Greater North Texas (CCGNT), we seek support from grants and local businesses to keep children involved. Scholarships and fundraising opportunities, such as Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day, offset expenses so as many children as possible can join the chorus. We do not turn anyone away because of the inability to pay.

“The mission of the chorus is to give children, ages third through eighth grade, the experience of musical excellence and artistry through choral singing. Children’s Chorus of Greater North Texas strives to create a spirit of community, reflect the diversity of greater North Texas, and enrich audiences with the best. Qualifications for membership include a choral voice, a good sense of pitch and a commitment to attending rehearsals and performances.
“Children’s Chorus of Greater North Texas is the only one of its kind in Grayson County and depends on financial help to keep programming running. Donations keep the chorus in existence.
“The purpose of CCGNT is to provide an avenue of healthy singing in our community with tuition that is affordable. We provide age-appropriate musical events for children in the area. Over half of our memberships rely on scholarships, and we’re always hoping to recruit more children. We are the only nonprofit choir of this kind in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. We serve approximately 150,000 individuals, counting Fannin, Grayson and Southern Bryan counties.

“The children perform formal concerts at numerous locations in the community. We will continue to sing and attend activities and events throughout the year, including special performances throughout the country and beyond.
“CCGNT has participated in North Texas Giving Day for two years and has received $1,500 in donations. This has helped us provide scholarships for five children. It is with great hope that we can increase this number and provide assistance to many more.
“There is incredible talent within our area. It is imperative that we provide children with a place to grow and inherit values that will last a lifetime. Thank you for considering helping so we can ‘Let the Children Sing!’”
