According to Dallas 24 Hour Club Development Director Adrienne Santaularia,
“Every year, Dallas 24 Hour Club (The 24) helps over 600 individuals experiencing homelessness become gainfully employed, reconnect with family members, learn life skills to live independently successfully and most importantly, embrace long-term sobriety. Since 1969, The 24 has provided recovery support to the Dallas community through housing 12-Step Meetings, recovery fellowship, and safe, sober transitional living.
“Through a Three Phase Program, The 24 provides structure and support in a step-down module. Program Managers and other staff provide daily hands-on guidance and direction 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The goal is for Residents to maintain long-term sobriety and become contributing and self-supporting members of their community. Once a Resident has successfully graduated from The 24’s 6-month program, they can apply to move to Tillman House, which is our affordable sober living apartment complex where they can stay for up to one year. During their stay at Tillman House, we encourage our Residents to work on their savings, repay debts and continue to learn life skills to ensure their success of living independently post-Tillman House.
“The 24’s program costs over $5,400 per day to operate and we rely on private donations to cover those expenses, which is why Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day is imperative in our fundraising efforts! Since 2014, we have raised over $350,000 during North Texas Giving Day, which averages to roughly 70 individuals who have been helped with those funds. In addition to the monies received through North Texas Giving Day, the efforts raise awareness to new supporters, which provides longevity and the possibility of future gifts, volunteer involvement and additional support such as in-kind goods and services. All this support is desperately needed for us to continue our work for our Residents.
“The 24 is unique in many ways and over the past 54 years, it has become a standard bearer in the recovery community in Dallas. In addition to providing a facility for over 38 12-Step Meetings each week, we don’t require any funds for new intakes. One of our Program Managers says it best, ‘No money. No insurance. No problem.’ We aim to provide support regardless if someone can afford it or not. Additionally, we provide three meals each day, along with clothing, linens, and hygiene products for the first 30 days or until a newcomer is gainfully employed and can provide for themselves. Centered around all our services is recovery and a pathway to self-sufficiency. We always say, “the program works if you work it.” In 2022, we had a record high Successful Graduation Rate of 31%.
“Another unique aspect about The 24 is that over 80% of our staff are alums, including all members of our Program Staff. This first-hand experience is instrumental in guiding and inspiring the Residents and newcomers on their journey of recovery.
“This year, our goal for North Texas Giving Day is to raise $55,000, and any size of gift is needed and appreciated! One gift at a time. One day at a time.”

I think that is so cool that this company provides 24/7 guidance daily and support the residents there because it is really important to have someone to help you and guide you on the way out of this. With this kind of support they def raise awareness among people there, and make them truly believe in themselves and they are actually able to change the things and start to live a better life full of joy without consuming alcohol or other things. It is also so kind of the bosses to make it affordable for everyone, so even those who got nothing in their pockets can be helped.
