According to The Magdalen House CEO Lisa Kroencke,
“Get ready to dance the night away at the annual Leave a Legacy ‘Live, Loud and Free’ concert benefiting The Magdalen House. Scheduled for Thursday, October 19, at 6 p.m., guests are invited to The Empire Room to enjoy compelling stories from the community and live entertainment. The evening will begin with dinner and the opportunity to bid on incredible auction items such as extravagant vacation getaways including a three-night stay at the luxury Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colorado, upscale Dallas dining, priceless sport memorabilia, exclusive art pieces and more.
“An unforgettable evening of entertainment will be provided by a musical artist that has yet to be publicly announced but is considered one of Nashville’s fastest rising and most critically acclaimed young stars and hailed by some of the world’s most respected publications, from Rolling Stone to New York Times, as a once-in-a-generation talent who is also in recovery.
“Those in attendance will help celebrate The Magdalen House’s latest expansion of services which now includes serving alcoholic men. The annual event is sure to bring awareness and much-needed funds to help alcoholic individuals achieve sobriety and sustain long-term recovery from alcoholism.
“Leave a Legacy is our most exciting event of the year! It is a celebration that highlights the admirable stories of alcoholic women and men in our community, while also celebrating the freedom that comes with recovery. It’s through fundraising events like Leave a Legacy that The Magdalen House can share the importance of the services the organization provides to alcoholic women and men, while also breaking down barriers to help reduce the stigma surrounding alcoholism. Attendees are left feeling inspired and motivated to help make a lasting impact for alcoholic women and men in our community and beyond. All proceeds from this event go to supporting the no-cost services offered to alcoholic women and men. We can’t wait to celebrate the freedom found in recovery again with our community.
“One in 11 women suffer from alcohol use disorder, but so do one in seven men. Today, there are over 250,000 alcoholic women in D/FW alone and approximately 400,000 men struggling with alcohol in D/FW. If you’re an alcoholic who can’t stop drinking or a concerned loved one of an alcoholic, the first step in recovery is education and access to resources. In North Texas, The Magdalen House provides residential recovery, detox, group meetings, structured programs, family support groups, and tools designed to help grow and sustain recovery. Proceeds from fundraising events like Leave a Legacy help to ensure that The Magdalen House can continue to provide no-cost services to alcoholic women and men.
“This year’s event is co-chaired by JoaAnne Moore, Nancy Gottsacker and Melissa Utley. Sponsorships are selling fast with opportunities beginning at $1,000.
