According to the 2024 St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon Co-Chairs Brooke Shelby and Samantha Wortley,
“The founders of the Leukemia And Lymphoma Society faced a great personal loss, but they didn’t let themselves sink into grief. They channeled it into transformative action that profoundly impacted countless lives.
“For 40 years, our St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon supporters have done the same. It’s been an incredible show of love to those affected by blood cancers. This love has kindled a new hope: that one day, we’ll rise above it all. Every step we take together lessens the weight. The statistics and diagnoses that once tethered us down will shift in our favor. With love, we won’t just rise to the challenge – we’ll transcend it.
“With that in mind, the theme for the 2024 St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show is Love Rises. We hope the community will join us on Thursday, February 8, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center as we celebrate our milestone year and raise awareness and funds in support of The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society’s mission to find cures for cancer and help improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
“Event highlights will include a champagne reception, remarkable honorees and award recipients and a runway show with fashions provided by Highland Park Village — all followed by a seated luncheon.
“Founded by Janet Evans and Rusty Duvall, the Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show has raised more than $15 million in its 40 years, funding research in Texas, including UT Southwestern Medical Center. Since its inception some patient survival rates have doubled and countless advances have been made with new safer treatments for patients.
