After a couple of years of overcoming the challenges of COVID, restaurateur extraordinaire Abraham Salum probably thought the worst was behind him. That was until the early days of this past March, when the roof fell in on him. Well, not on Abraham himself but his beloved Salum Restaurant. It seems that the torrents of rain were just too much for the location on Cole at Fitzhugh and down came the ceiling, pretty much wiping out the kitchen and the dining room.
But Abraham rallied the troops and managed to have his operation back in perfect order by Thursday, May 25, for the 2023 Crystal Charity Ball Midpoint Luncheon, where 2023 CCB Chair Angie Kadesky and her committee chairs (Underwriting Chair Mary Martha Pickens, Foundation Chair Elizabeth Gambrell, Children’s Book Chair Jennifer Dix and Special Gifts Chair Amy Hegi) reported who were the top producers for the first part of the year.
In addition to the 2023 committee members were past CCB chairs (Debbie Oates, Christie Carter, Claire Emanuelson, Tucker Enthoven, Leslie Diers and Susan Farris).
Much to the relief of all, not only was the restaurant’s refreshing perfect, but the food was as yummy as ever.
