The valets had been told that about 70 were expected for the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary‘s Spring Tea on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 12. Only by the time the doors opened at Monica Eastin‘s fabulous estate, the car count had already hit 100 and more guests were self parking and hiking from a block away.

But it was worth the car challenge. Thanks to rare but beautiful weather, Monica was able to open the glass doors of the living room to expand the gathering to the adjacent covered terrace where the podium was set up.
As the seats along the living room’s back wall quickly filled with vets taking their place with plates of sweets, SAWA Founder Margot Perot and Ramona Jones took their places on the terrace for the day’s presentation by 2023 SAWA President Jennifer Dix and Fashion Show Chair Kim Quinn, plus an update of the Salvation Army’s capital campaign by 2023 SAWA Margot Perot Service Awardee Michal Powell, who was introduced by Fashion Show Honorary Co-Chair Lisa Cooley.

But before the day’s update got underway guests had their pick and choose of sweets on a table in a side room, as well as checking out the beautifully red wrapped boxes containing the 2023 signature scarves that were on sale with Shannon Graham in charge.
It was pretty obvious from the turnout that the momentum was roaring ahead for the Auxiliary’s 30th Anniversary Fashion Show and Luncheon at the Meyerson on Tuesday, May 16.
