When it comes to a stellar party, the name Schlegel is usually in the neighborhood. Whether it’s  taking over the Meyerson Symphony Center or spearheading a fundraiser for a non-profit, this philanthropic family knows how to celebrate the occasion with all the right elements.

So that’s why the grounds of Klyde Warren Park will be the perfect venue for the Schlegels making it a true family affair for fundraising.

Klyde Warren Park President/CEO Kit Sawers just revealed that Myrna and Bob Schlegel will serve as the honorary co-chairs for Klyde Warren’s signature event — Party in the Park — sponsored by Republic National Distribution Company (RNDC) on Thursday, October 12, at, needless to say, Klyde Warren Park.

In a tip o the hat to their parents, their children son Kirby Schlegel and his sisters and their spouses Krystal and Luke Davis, Kari and Troy Kloewer and Kimberly and Justin Whitman will be the event co-chairs.

This event is especially important since the Park not only is a gem recognized nationally but also dependent upon private funding. Yup, the 5.2-acre park relies on contributions from donors to support maintenance, free programs and education activities for more than 1M visitors annually.

Party In The Park*

According to Kirby, “For more than a decade, Klyde Warren Park has surpassed all expectations, including in economic and community impact. Its influence reaches far beyond the Dallas city limits, leaving an incredibly positive impression on tourists who travel to our city.”

And Kirby should know since his mother Myrna is a board member and knows all-too-well that it has grown over the past decade from its birth to a groundswell of activities and attendance.

This year’s event will kick off with a cocktail reception presented by First United Bank at the Nancy Best Fountain, followed by a “casually elegant supper” courtesy of SMU.

Topping the evening of partying under the stars will be guest partying hearty to Q The Band thanks to Klyde Warren Park Co-Founders Sheila and Jody Grant.

As Kit pointed out, “To have the Schlegel family chairing Party In The Park underscores the importance of this fundraising event for our treasured green space. We are exceptionally grateful for the leadership of the volunteers and longtime sponsors like RNDC who have elevated the presence and profile of Klyde Warren Park.”
