North Texans were just emerging from the pandemic coma this past Saturday when a vile situation took place at a usually regarded family-friendly venue — the Allen Premium Outlets.
It was just past 3 p.m. when a person took his anger out against the world on innocent strangers with at least eight murdered, dozens of other cruelly harmed and hundreds of others emotionally damaged.
While the shock still rumbles, various area non-profits are coming together to help those impacted by the event.
In the days to come there will be a variety of questionable programs professing to provide help for the victims. Luckily Communities Foundation of Texas is providing a safe haven — the Support For Allen Fund — for those hoping to direct funds in the appropriate directions.
If you can’t give money, consider donating blood for the victims who are still undergoing treatments at area hospitals.
Again, just like the pandemic when confusion reigned during the earliest days, North Texans were able to find the appropriate ways to help those in need thanks to bona fide programs.
