Before people even started putting on their makeup for today’s Dallas CASA‘s Cherish The Children Luncheon at The Statler, word arrived that the event was cancelled.
The reason the sold-out fundraiser won’t take place?
According to Dallas CASA’s Rosanne Lewis, “The Statler lost air conditioning at 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning and has not been able to repair the issue. They brought in fans and cooling systems in an attempt to lower the temperature in the event space but have been unsuccessful. Early this morning, with indoor temps at 82 degrees and rising, The Statler decided the space was unusable and we agreed to cancel the luncheon.
“We are hosting a small box lunch at the office for the [Sally Hoglund and Kristy Hoglund Robinson] Hoglands and a few others at 12:00 p.m. The silent auction will stay open online until 5:00 p.m. today.”
The good news is that the decision was made out of concern for guests. The bad news…. and it is bad news … is that the event won’t be able to showcase its highly successful advocacy program and raise funds for it.
But since you’re all dressed up, why not get your luncheon pals together at a restaurant that’s literally cooler than The Statler? Better yet — check out the silent auction here.
