Tuesday, March 28, was a day/night to be reckoned with. From the morning lunches (Dallas Service Forum’s “A Royal Affair” and NM Downtown’s “Women’s History Month Panel”) and KidneyTexas’ spring tea at Runway Report Chair Venise Stuart‘s home to the slam-bang theater of a night that included patron parties (i.e., Children’s Cancer Fund Gala’s patron party at Jamie and Melbourne O’Banion‘s place and Callier Cares Luncheon at Shelby Family Collection), things were busy, to say the least. And then there was still another gangbuster — Texas Ballet Theater’s (TBT) season announcement at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
For some who hadn’t bothered to check the invite beyond the event being held at the Perot, they didn’t realize that getting to the parking lot was going to test their mettle. Luckily, the dedicated ballet family circled the Museum perimeter to discover the backdoor entry. But even then they had to zigzag the maze of routes leading to the drop-off at the base of the Museum.
Perot CEO Linda Silver said that due to the evening’s overwhelming turnout, the party had been moved from the Lyda Hill Gems and Mineral Hall floor on Level Three to the lobby.
Too bad, because the launch of the season had tied in with a glittering “brilliance” of one of the season’s performances.
Perot Board Chair David Corrigan admitted that it was a relief to get things up and going after the pandemic. Professionally, the veteran retailing realtor reported that the market was emerging better than before the pandemic.
Regarding the Museum, he looked a bit wistful when someone asked if he could have imagined today’s museum from its opening in December 2012. Its success and impact was more than even he could have imagined.
More than 150 including Virginia Tigue, TBT Governors Lindsay Ballotta, Kristen Roberts, Lisa Rocchio and Capera Ryan, TBT Executive Committee Member Susan Glassmoyer, Elizabeth and John Selzer and Jacqueline and William Stavi-Raines gathered to learn from TBT Executive Director Vanessa Logan that the season would include the following:
