Make-A-Wish North Texas will be taking over the Omni Dallas Hotel on Saturday, May 13, for its Wish Night Dallas fundraiser with a goal of granting 630 wishes for its fiscal year. That goal is up from last year’s total of 488.
Already this year 330 wishes have been granted for children with critical illnesses.
According to academic research provided by Nationwide Children’s Hospital Neurology Section Chief Director Anup Patel, “Wishes are a nice thing to do for a patient, their family and siblings, but for the first time this study shows that a wish is more than just nice. A wish is something that potentially can help the health of a child get better over time, impact healthcare utilization, and reduce dollars spent on healthcare.”
With wishes “costing an average of $10,000 each,” funds raised from the event featuring the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Turtle Creek Chorale are to provide funding for the 300 wishes yet to be put on the books.
Sponsorships and tickets are still available here until Thursday, May 11.
