Unlike some teary-eyed retirement parties, Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) President/CEO Dave Scullin‘s farewell to the staff (Monica Christopher and Melissa Hardage), CFT trustees (Becky Bright, Greg Campbell, Matrice Ellis-Kirk, Connie O’Neill, Florence Shapiro and Thear Suzuki) supporters (Patrick Walsh, Jeff Gault, Gary Saunders and Thear Suzuki), community and non-profit leaders (Clay Jenkins, Kim Noltemy, Paige McDaniel, Andy Smith and Jennifer Sampson) and friends on Wednesday, March 1, at CFT headquarters was an upbeat one celebrating his six years in the role.
Following a reception in the lobby, guests took their places in the auditorium, where outgoing Board Chair Alfreda Norman turned the reins over to Richie Butler, who revealed the plans for searching for Dave’s successor. Richie added levity to the occasion, joking that had he known that Dave was going to retire, he might not have accepted the chairmanship. In bidding farewell, Dave shared his thoughts about lessons learned, the current status of CFT and the possibilities that lie ahead.
