With the weather being so remarkably friendly, the Katy Trail was buzzing with walkers, joggers, cyclists and pooches. Thanks to the Friends of the Katy Trail, this 3.5-mile gem is absolutely free for any and all.
Speaking of which, the Friends of the Katy Trail have just welcomed six new members to its board, as well as a new board president.
Joining the board are Sarah Dodd, Faisal Halum, Wade Johns, Simon Little, Gaby Rawlings and Baxter Underwood. Rolling off the board are TJ Carter, Amanda Lockhart and Letty Spicer.
Succeeding Board President Eric Paulson is Blake Shipp.
According to Blake, “I am extremely honored to work alongside the incredible staff and board as the Katy Trail Has become one of our city’s greatest assets and is the beloved destination in Dallas for exercise, recreation, community connection and alternative means of transportation. The Katy Trail is a testament to the beauty and resilience of nature, a place where history, the natural world and urban life come together; therefore, I feel an immense responsibility to ensure the Trail remains sake, clean and beautiful for the patrons to connect with community, connect with nature and connect within.”
Already scheduled for Friends members are a Spring Member Party later this month and a Major Donor Party at Kathy and Harlan Crow’s home. These activities plus other perks are available for membership, so why not join up?
