According to Wilkinson Center Executive Director Anne Reeder,
“As we look back on our 40th anniversary, Wilkinson Center is reminded of our many milestones together and our legacy of empowering families. In just this last year, Wilkinson Center positively affected nearly 10,000 people across Dallas County through the generous support of the community and the contributions of our dedicated team. Together we strengthened access to education, employment and workforce training; provided financial literacy and coaching; and addressed crucial barriers like food insecurity. Our programs truly provide pathways to success for the families we serve every day.
“Wilkinson Center’s founding began when an East Dallas pastor looked up from his church office and saw hungry children digging in a dumpster for food. That pioneering pastor, Reverend Clayton Lewis, rallied his congregation and answered his call to serve, feeding those hungry children and their families. From that act of leadership, a ripple effect occurred, leading to the creation of Wilkinson Center and our many innovative programs, which continue to positively impact local families today.
“While we have reached an unforgettable milestone year, our work is not yet done.
“My wish this holiday season is for the community to continue their support of Wilkinson Center by considering a gift to our year-end campaign. Our goal this year is $100,000 and every dollar will help us end hunger and generational poverty.
“Thank you for your support of our mission and for helping us continue to make an impact on our shared community!”
