According to Texas Discovery Gardens Board Member Ann Dyer,

“The Flora Award, one of Dallas’ oldest and most prestigious honors, has been presented in support of Texas Discovery Gardens since 1982. It recognizes outstanding citizens and organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to community service, education, sustainable conservation and enhancement of quality of life. We are currently accepting nominations for the 2023 recipient. The 2022 recipient, Marilyn Herkimer Weber epitomizes the Flora Award’s mission.
“The popular Flora Award Gala will be this Fall at the elegant Grand Hall at Texas Discovery Gardens in Fair Park. Proceeds from the event help fund Texas Discovery Gardens’ mission to help children and adults discover and learn to sustain the natural world. The holiday season is the perfect time to honor or remember loved ones and support the Flora Award dinner.

“Please consider joining us in celebrating Fair Park and, specifically Texas Discovery Gardens, which throughout its philanthropic history, has contributed millions of dollars to countless nonprofit and other organizations throughout Texas, including North Texas, and the people and neighborhoods closest to Fair Park.
“The State Fair has awarded more than $45 million in college scholarships through its Big Tex and Livestock Auction programs. Since 2016, the State Fair has awarded $2.5 million in grants benefiting 650,000 people. Through its Big Tex Urban Farms program, 780,000 hungry people have been provided with produce. What a grand statement on behalf of Dallas! We hope you will join us!
“Your support will make it possible for Texas Discovery Gardens maintain the outstanding quality of educational programs and expand its reach to the many neighborhoods in South Dallas, Dallas County and beyond.
