While most North Texans will claim German-born Dirk Nowitzki as the Dallas Mavericks icon, the area’s non-profit sector will protest. Yes, he’s been the prototype of sports heroes thanks to his on-court accomplishments. But in addition to raising a remarkable family with his wife Jessica Nowitzki, he has been mostly under the radar when it comes to showing up and supporting area non-profits. And that really hits home when it comes to youngsters. Whether it’s quietly visiting the kids at Children’s Medical Center or onstage for After-School All-Stars North Texas, Dirk has been a philanthropic role model for others to follow.

That said, it was just learned that Dirk will be front and center for Educational First Steps‘ “An Evening With The Great Nowitzki” on Tuesday, February 21, at The Ritz-Carlton Dallas.
In addition to towering over everyone in the ballroom, Dirk will “share the power of perseverance and early childhood education.”
So, whether you’re a Mavs fan or just want to hear from Dirk, who is known for being adorably unplugged, this evening will be one for kids of all ages.
Funds raised through the event will support Educational First Steps’ mission to “create and support high-quality early learning environments that ignite the minds of children from birth to age five.”
While tickets will be available at a later date, sponsorships are available now here.
