Lighting is gonna strike a couple of North Texas parks next week. No, not bolts of lightning but rather tree lightings to brighten up the holiday season. While the Dallas Arboretum‘s “Holiday at the Arboretum” is already ablaze with thousands of lights and activities thanks to Reliant, a couple of the very family-friendly, free “brilliant” occasions will start on Tuesday, November 29, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Turtle Creek Park ‘s Light Up Turtle Creek Park presented by Park Place Dealerships.
For the season’s debut of the park’s glow will be an art bazaar, food trucks and old Saint Nick ho-ho-ho-ing for free photos with kids and the young at heart. The Mistletoe Market will include such artists as Ronnie Griffon, Deborah Hartigan Viestenz, Arkansas’ Jeff Blecher of Bentonville and Lori Pilking Weeks of Little Rock, French American Lorraine Gachelin and Iranian Aisan Shahrdar, as well as Dallas’ own Olivia G Boutique and jewelry designer Andrea Reich.
According to Turtle Creek Conservancy President Tiffany Divis, “Turtle Creek Park is in the heart of the city and provides a very accessible, central location for everyone to enjoy the park’s unique beauty and manicured grounds during the holiday season.”
Just a few days later on Saturday, December 3, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at Klyde Warren Park from 3 to 6 p.m. for the Tree Lighting Celebration presented by Energy Transfer.
While Santa will be camera-ready for photos, Mrs. Claus will be holding story time.
In addition to the Clauses, there will be face painting, crafts, games and snow flurries. The festivities will “culminate with a live show featuring performance of holiday music, Santa’s pals Frosty and Rudolph and the annual tree lighting ceremony.” In addition to valet parking ($15 for park patrons and $5 for those dining at Mi Cocina), there are self-parking options here.
What a great way to check out the renewed Sheila and Jody Grant Children’s Park and the Nancy Best Fountain!
