While Chinese food is yummy whether it’s takeout or dine-in, it’s a total mystery for most DIY-ers. Luckily 13th Annual Celebrity Chef Co-Chairs Effie and Brian Dennison and Michelle Chase and Elliot Zimmer are helping to solve that dilemma. They’ve arranged to have TV personality/cookbook author/restaurateur/YouTube host Chef Martin Yan as the celebrity du jour on Wednesday, March 29, for the 11:30 a.m. lunch and 6:30 p.m. dinner fundraiser for the Visiting Nurse Association.

For the past 40 years Chef Yan has combined his cooking talents with his personality. His motto has always been, “Yan Can Cook, So Can You!”

His trophy room includes a Daytime Emmy Award for the best cooking show, a James Beard Award for Best TV Food Journalism, a James Beard Award for Best Cooking Show, the Courvoisier Leadership Award by Courvoisier and, most recently, the 2022 James Beard Lifetime Achievement Award.
As VNA President/CEO Katherine Krause put it, “Chef Yan will bring his bubbly personality and generous spirit to our kitchen and regale us with his lifetime of stories in the culinary entertainment business.”
Serving as honorary co-chairs will be the Perot family that has supported VNA with its family members’ generosity and by serving on the board and volunteering.
With 100% of the proceeds supporting the VNA’s Meals on Wheels and Hospice Care, be forewarned that the luncheon and dinner are traditional sell-outs for two reasons: they’re deliciously entertaining and for a great cause.
