Christmas came a little early this year for North Texas’ Spay Neuter Network (SNN). Petco Love has awarded the organization a $75,000 grant “to help reduce the number of pets entering shelters through its Pet Support and Resource Center and create a lifesaving community for animals.”
According to SNN Executive Director Jordan Craig, “The efforts of our Pet Support and Resource Center aim to help pet owners keep their pets, re-home their pets without them spending time in the shelter or find rescue partner placement with foster networks. This not only keeps pets happy and at home, but it also allows for more time to find lifesaving options for the pets that need the safety net of the shelter as a last resort.”
Thanks to the SNN network of three spay/neuter clinics, a surgery transport service for those with limited transportation and a Mobile Animal Spay/Neuter Hospital (MASH), more than 25,000 surgeries are performed annually. SNN also “provides wellness and supportive services for nearly 50,000 pets at little to no cost to pet owners in North Texas.”
In addition to providing the grant as part of the more than $15M investment recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations, Petco Love President Susanne Kogut revealed, “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently celebrated the one-year launch anniversary of Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses pet facial recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”
