According to Shelter2Rescue Coalition Inc. Director Louisa Bennett,
“’Just one more day, is what we hope for every day’ — we are in the business of buying more time. Shelter2Rescue assists in photographing the cats and dogs, to help with better exposure, transports to a foster/rescue/vet, medicines, and mostly a huge amount of networking from our amazing Shelter2Rescue ‘shelter liaison’ team.
“Unfortunately for most cats and dogs, they are in danger as soon as they enter a shelter. Three days for a stray, one day or less for an owner surrender. Shelter2Rescue works with a handful of rural shelters, that need our help to assist cats and dogs to find forever homes or rescues to assist finding homes.
“’There’s a home for every tail’ — through our volunteer and foster program it allows us to find temporary placement in foster homes or placement in another rescue ultimately leading to a forever home, whether adopted directly through the shelters or our rescue.
“We have managed to save 7,000 plus animals working our programs. It’s pure hard work and dedication by people like you who want to help. Through donations it allows us to buy extra medicines when needed, pay for gas for a ‘lifesaving’ transport, surgeries or use temporary boarding when a foster home can’t be found.
“We are so thankful to those who find room in their hearts and homes to temporary house a cat or dog when needed, which is all the time. Fostering truly saves lives! Volunteers and donations have a huge impact on the animal homelessness in our communities.
“We know the efforts to save more animals lives have grown tremendously in the past few years. Our efforts can only grow with the support of communities, funding and volunteer/fosters. North Texas Giving Day is the biggest fundraising event of the year for us at Shelter2Rescue. The funds help support our NoKill Rural Texas program.”
