For those who just couldn’t stay up until midnight for the final results, you missed a surprising end to the 2022 North Texas Giving Day. With its 18-hour countdown clock ticking away, the tote board whirled to a final total of $62,565,273.
Despite the impressive number, it just wasn’t enough to beat last year’s $66M total.
Unlike 2021’s fundraiser receiving donations from 103,000 donors, the number of 2022 donors was 94,385.
The event, which started in 2009, had broken a new fundraising record every year — even in 2020 and 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While this year’s result ends the annual fundraising record-breaking run, no apologies are in order. It was a mammoth achievement that has now provided more than $503M for area non-profits since its founding in 2009.
Despite falling short of breaking the previous year’s amount, $62.5M+ and 10,521 volunteers will benefit thousands of non-profits in making North Texas a better place to live and work.
While the Communities Foundation of Texas team is closing the books on another stellar funding effort, they’ll start putting into place plans for the 2023 North Texas Giving Day.
