According to Mosaic Family Services Development Director Momtaz Begum,
“At Mosaic Family Services, we believe freedom, dignity, and justice are human rights. Since our inception in 1993, Mosaic has been a beacon for underrepresented refugee and immigrant communities of North Texas. Mosaic has grown significantly since then and is now a comprehensive service provider that acts as a haven for survivors of human rights abuses.
“Mosaic’s staff speak over 25 languages and come from across the world, representing dozens of cultures and every major faith. Our multicultural and diverse staff enables us to provide individualized and culturally competent services to people who may otherwise not be able to access life-saving services because of language and cultural barriers.
“What separates Mosaic from other agencies is the depth and quality of the services we provide to our clients. Mosaic’s programs are designed to address and remove any additional challenges faced by survivors of abuse, including language and cultural barriers, unfamiliarity with American systems and legal rights, and social and economic isolation. These compassion-driven services include an emergency shelter with a supply of diverse multicultural food, so clients will always have what they need to feel at home. We also have a team of bilingual counselors at our main office and emergency shelter who work with survivors as they begin the healing process. Counselors are trained in advanced and modern forms of therapy to help clients express and overcome trauma. In addition, we have a professional and trauma-informed legal team that practices family and immigration law. Above all of this, our multicultural case management team acts as interpreters and advocates for our survivors and helps them navigate Mosaic’s many services. Case managers walk with clients every step of the way, from safety planning, as survivors plan to leave their abusive situation, to holding their hand in the courtroom. No matter what our clients’ needs are, we are equipped to handle them with compassion and care.
“At Mosaic, we work tirelessly to help our clients rebuild their lives, but we need your support and the support of our community to help our survivors achieve dignity, freedom, and justice. Be part of a community of supporters working to empower survivors by making a gift to Mosaic!
“We have seen first-hand the power of trauma-informed care and culturally competent services. Survivors first enter our programs often scared, hurt, and unsure of what the future holds. But once a survivor meets with their Mosaic case manager who speaks the same language and understands their cultural nuances, everything changes. Mosaic gives survivors the nudge they need to regain their voice and become empowered individuals.
“North Texas Giving Day provides you the perfect opportunity to make a high-impact gift to Mosaic. You can visit our North Texas Giving Day page to donate and learn about additional ways you can get involved by volunteering with us at our emergency shelter. The money raised on this day is critical to Mosaic’s operations and enables us to provide trauma-informed and culturally sensitive services to every client who comes through our programs.”
