Friends Of Wilkinson Kicked Off 2022 Spirit Of Taos With A Tip Of The Hat At Flea Style

Aug 26, 2022 11:30 AM by Jeanne Prejean

UPDATE: Due to Monday’s monsoon, Flea Style in Deep Ellum was “flooded.” However, they’ve been busy drying out and hope to return to providing great and fun looks by today. So, check before heading to Deep Ellum.

Since 2022 Spirit Of Taos Co-Chairs Shannon Hanberry and Ashley White couldn’t take supporters to New Mexico for the Wilkinson Center fundraiser kickoff on Wednesday, August 17, they did the next best thing. They held the warm-up invite-only party at Flea Style, where guests got a chance to have their chapeaus customized for the Friends of Wilkinson Center hoedown at On the Levee come Friday, October 14. Here’s a report from the field:

The Spirit of Taos Co-Chairs Shannon Hanberry and Ashley White, along with Friends of Wilkinson Center president Ellen Estee, were joined by nearly 25 supporters including Wilkinson Center Executive Director Anne Reeder Corley and Paul Corley, Caitlin Hyatt, Pam Karlos, Katy Lopez, Lindsay Morris, Ida Gleaton, Karrie Cato, Laura Wilensky, Adrea Headrick, Katie and Sam Peck, Holly and Drew Ross, Lauren Sands and Lynn Fisher on Wednesday, August 17, for a kick-off celebration for The Spirit of Taos.

Guests arrived at Flea Style in Dallas’ Deep Ellum and mingled while enjoying peach Sangria and light bites from Doug Boster Catering. Partygoers shopped the store’s fabulous clothing, accessories and hat bar, where they could choose vintage scarves, charms, feathers and dried florals to customize their hats.

Mid-way through the evening, Shannon and Ashley gathered the crowd to express their gratitude to attendees, including the evening’s host, Flea Style, the kick-off party sponsor, SHM Architects and donors Doug Boster Catering and Topo Chico. They reminded all that the ninth annual The Spirit of Taos will be held on Friday, October 14, from 6:30 – 11:00 p.m., at On the Levee. The Southwestern-inspired evening will include cocktails, a seated dinner, silent and live auctions, live entertainment by The Jimmy Stadler Band, dancing and more, including a video to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Wilkinson Center.

As the evening came to a close, partygoers received a vintage-inspired tote bag courtesy of Topo Chico.

The Spirit of Taos sponsorships begin at $5,000, tables begin at $2,200 with patron tickets, $500 each and individual tickets, $275 and are available now. To purchase, visit our website or contact Andrea Jones at 972.284 0315.
