According to Dream Center Dallas Director Kacie Kintz,
“At Dream Center Dallas, our mission is to connect people to a community of support by providing free resources and services that address immediate, practical and long-term needs in the areas of homelessness, hunger, poverty, addiction, abuse, education and human trafficking. We strive to serve the community with uncommon generosity by building relationships with families and individuals while also meeting their practical needs. Many families struggle with poverty to make ends meet in Dallas. With our annual Back to School Event, we aim to provide assistance to parents in the Dallas and Oak Cliff communities by equipping their children with the supplies needed for a successful school year.
“The annual event provides children of all ages with free shoes, backpacks and school supplies. It will take place on Saturday, August 6, at 10 a.m. until supplies last, in the parking lot of Dream Center Dallas at 1900 S Ewing Ave, Dallas, TX 75216.
“Children and their families will have the opportunity to receive backpacks, school supplies, and new shoes of all sizes to start the school year off on the right foot. The Back to School event will also feature carnival games, prizes, and snacks.
“Around 1,000 backpacks with school supplies inside will be distributed to the community in addition to school supplies and shoes donated by our supportive community.
“Opportunities to serve are available and include volunteering, donating supplies or donating financially. To volunteer to help work the event, sign up here. To donate financially, visit dreamcenterdallas.com/donate. Donations of shoes for children of all ages and basic school supplies such as notebooks, folders, paper, pencils, erasers, folders, scissors, glue sticks, colored pencils, crayons and markers will be accepted at Church Eleven32 at 700 Rivercrest Blvd, Allen, TX 75002, on Mondays through Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from Sunday, July 3, through Sunday, July 31. An Amazon wish list is also available for items to be purchased and shipped directly to Dream Center Dallas.
“We hope those that are able to will provide what they can to help children in Dallas have a successful school year ahead.”
