The folks at the Dallas Arboretum are all too aware that North Texas is toasty to say the least. Usually, they’re gearing up for their August Dollar Days and Pepper Palooza, when prices are dropped to $3 for general garden admission, $3 admission to the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden and $6 for parking.
But with August temperatures hitting in July, they’ve ramped up plans and are taking the usual $10 to $16 admission to $5 for general admission and $5 for the Adventure Garden.
In addition to the acres of majestic trees and water, there are activities scheduled during the month including the following:
- Aspiring Artists Micro Musical Festival on Saturday, July 23 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- Christmas in July on Sunday, July 24 with photo opps with Santa, story time with Mrs. Claus and Big D Kona ice for sale
- Summer at the Arboretum exhibition by documentarian/photographer Don Tortellini thru Sunday, July 24
- “Meet The Artists” with Alli Koch, MOM, Will Heron and Favio Moreno on Tuesday, July 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.
As Dallas Arboretum Board Chair Jim Ryan reminded, “The garden has many shaded areas, and the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden has plenty of water misters and water features that children flock to this time of year.”
