The only things missing from the 2022 Crystal Charity Ball theme announcement party at Tucker and Rich Enthoven’s Preston Hollow palazzo on Thursday, May 5, were paddling gondoliers in the swimming pool and the catch-all-coins Trevi Fountain. However, for the smarty types there were Easter eggs like 2022 CCB Chair Susan Farris‘ purse that just hinted that the 2022 fundraiser theme was going to be a blending of Audrey Hepburn–Gregory Peck‘s “Roman Holiday” and “Under The Tuscan Sun” at the Hilton Anatole on Saturday, December 3.
But the surprise performance by Dallas Opera tenor Zach Hess, the whiff of garlic wafting from the dining room following the announcement, the parting farewell of gelato and a couple of Vespas parked in the driveway left no question that the black-tie fundraiser’s “Splendido Italiano” was going to be a successo sbalorditivo (aka stunning success).
