While the Highland Park Village restaurant patios were in overdrive celebrating Cinco de Mayo, a couple of miniature horses — Dare and Ranger – were stopping pedestrian traffic in the courtyard alongside the Lela Rose salon where Lela Rose GM Jessica Smotherman was hosting an event on Thursday, May 5.
The little hooved critters were on site to support Equest Women’s Auxiliary Luncheon And Fashion Show Chair Shannon Graham’s kick-off party for the fall fundraiser.
Instead of just supporting Shannon, the ponies were recruiting new admirers like Vee Montgomery, little passersby Isabelle and Olivia with their folks and fellas like Charlie Shufeldt.
Already on board was Equest Auxiliary member Ashley Blurton with her pretty-in-pink daughter/Equest client Brynn, who had graduated to a big horse in her tailor-made program.
As Shannon reminded guests like Equest CEO Lili Kellogg, Equest Blue Ribbon Gala Co-Chair Elsa Norwood, Angie Kadesky, Kimber Hartmann, Lynn McBee and Keana Meyer and her daughters Ellie Meyer and Katherine Meyer that the luncheon would be returning to Brook Hollow with a Jan Strimple produced fashion show with Highland Park Village fashions including Akris, Alice and Olivia, Carolina Herrera, Etro, Lela Rose, Roller Rabbit and Veronica Beaird on the runway on Monday, October 4.
In addition to Lisa Cooley serving as the honorary chair, Sarah Losinger will receive the 2022 Community Service Award Recipient aware.
In addition to sponsorships starting at $3,000, individual tickets range from $300 to $1,000.
