The upcoming weeks are going to be heart-stopping. It was the result of a perfect storm created last year.
Due to the pandemic, many 2021 fall and winter fundraising events were pushed off to the spring of 2022. The hope was that restrictions would have eased off by then. The good news is that cases dramatically dropped — and so did the restrictions.
But then a look at the March calendar limited the month’s availability, thanks to spring break and some organizers hedging their bets, with April and May becoming the main targets before summer vacations got underway.
But even in those months there wasn’t much room (what with the likes of traditional spring fundraisers, religious holidays, weddings, graduations, etc.).
The final tally has ended up with April and the first couple of weeks in May making the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 look like a backyard barbecue.
If you had to pick the most challenging date to avoid, the MySweetCharity Calendar is shivering at the very thought of Thursday, April 28. It is truly the whirlpool of events, with more than a dozen events taking place and more on the way.
On the other hand, tally-ho for North Texas non-profits returning to mammoth efforts for area charities.
In the meantime, MySweetCharity is looking at the challenge like Granny Clampett in a swimsuit competition.
