For the 600 of those who made the sacrifice of donating one of their evening gowns and/or accessories for Comerica Bank’s Prom Drive, it should warm your hearts on this frigid day that you’ve made countless high schoolers over-the-top happy. They will now attend their prom dressed to the max.
With the help of the Comerica Bank North Texas Women’s Forum, the Boys And Girls Clubs West Dallas turned into a boutique — Boys And Girls Clubs Of Greater Dallas Prom Dress Extravaganza — for members of the Boys And Girls Club Of Greater Dallas to shop the collection.
Next week Comerica volunteers will be front and center when Dallas CASA hosts a private shopping event for its clients, who are in the protective care of the state.
And what happens to the gowns that are not selected? Good question. They will be distributed to other non-profits and teens, “who otherwise might not be able to afford formal attire.”
Over the years this project has donated 5,584 dresses to Boys And Girls Clubs Of Greater Dallas and Dallas CASA and other non-profits.
It may not seem like a big deal for some, but for one night that donation may be the very big deal for a youngsters who never dreamed of feeling special.
