Is there an upside to Thursday’s arrival of Winter Storm Landon? Heck, yes. You’re gonna be stuck at home and after the amazement of the season’s snowfall wears off, you have the perfect opportunity to help without leaving your bedroom. It’s in that closet way far in the back, where you’ve stowed your long-ago gown that was something special for a night. But now it’s just wasting away behind those bridesmaids dresses that were only there for sentimental reasons.
Now is the time to free these special dresses and let them have another special night out for area senior proms as part of the Comerica Bank Prom Dress Drive benefiting Boys And Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas and Dallas CASA.
Now through Monday, February 28, you can drop off your dress at the following six Dallas-area Comerica banking centers:
- Cole-Fitzhugh at 3202 North Fitzhugh in Dallas
- Forest-Inwood at 5200 Forest Lane in Dallas
- Lovers Lane-Devonshire at 5647 W. Lovers Lane in Dallas
- NorthPark at 8850 Boedeker Street in Dallas
- Parker-Premier at 3310 Premier Road in Plano
- Preston Center at 8225 Preston Road in Dallas
Started seven years ago, the Prom Dress Drive had to take a break last year due to COVID. However, during the previous six years, the Comerica program had provided 4,980 young women with gowns for their proms thanks to generous donors.
None of these gals have had a dream life, so a senior prom is a big event for them. Your donation just might make the difference between celebrating their prom and staying at home in tears.
So, start digging through that closet and make room for your spring shopping spree. And while you’re at it, check out those purses, dangling earrings and other accessories from the past that might highlight the night for a “senior moment.”
