While area gardens are slowing arising from the February chill, North Texas boards are in full bloom with news about new members. The latest to blossom is the Southwestern Medical Foundation Board of Trustees.
Foundation Chair James Huffines just revealed the six newest members of the Board include Cheryl D. Alston, Shonn Brown, Imran Khan, Pilar Tabarnero Henry, Kathleen J. Wu and Dawn Zierk.
According to James, “Each new member joins us ready to lead forward during this exciting time of growth and expansion in North Texas. Their diverse perspectives and experiences energize our efforts to broaden the reach of our mission and inspire progress in medicine.”
Having been created by Dr. Edward H. Cary, Karl Hoblitzelle, Hall Shannon and E.R. Brown in 1939 “to rally citizens in support of the highest quality health care possible in the Southwestern U.S.,” the Foundation’s mission “remains to connect donors with innovative programs and serve as a sustainable funding source for leading-edge medical research, medical education and patient care.”
As Southwestern Medical Foundation President/CEO Kathleen Gibson said, “This outstanding group of community leaders makes a tremendous addition to our Foundation Board. We have much to accomplish in the coming years, and we thank our Trustees for their willingness to devote their valuable time and expertise that will assure the Foundation’s strategic and lasting impact in shaping our future.”
