To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Just Say YES is going full force with an in-person “Celebration – A Night Of Hope And Connection” at the Omni Hotel Dallas on Thursday, April 28.
After netting a whopping $379,423.02 from last year’s hybrid event, Just Say Yes Founder/President Dan Bailey and his team have ramped up their goal to haul in a record-breaking $500,000 to benefit the K-12th grade students, their parents and educators served through the organization’s impact programs of Motivational Experiences, Wellness Education and Peer-to-Peer Mentoring.”
To achieve this goal, Honorary Co-Chairs Laurie and Terry Ledbetter have come on board as the honorary co-chairs and football icon Mike Singletary will be the keynote speaker.
In addition to having a list of accomplishments (i.e. NFL Defensive Player of the year, Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, Bart Starr Award, NFL All-Decade Team, the Walter Camp Man of the Year, Pro Hall of Fame), Mike made history when he became the first African American head coach for the San Francisco 49ers in 2008.
His selection is timely in light of the recent controversy involving former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, who was fired by the Dolphins in January.
Mike is a no-nonsense kind of guy. For example, he made headlines when at his first game as interim head coach for the Seahawks, he explained his decision to send Vernon Davis to the locker room for a “costly unnecessary roughness penalty.”
According to Dan, “Mike Singletary is known as a tremendous football player, but more than anything he is a personable and generous man who exemplifies outstanding character and leadership as a player, family man, community members, corporate spokesman and businessman. His passion for helping underserved communities and youth aligns seamlessly with our mission, and we are honored to have him as the Celebration keynote speaker!”
Insiders also indicate that besides the night of celebrating Just Say Yes’ 20 years, “a major announcement” will be made that night.
