Celebrating a birthday is an annual occasion. But celebrating a centennial is a once-in-100-year really big deal. That’s why Junior League of Dallas Centennial Co-Chairs Andrea Cheek and Margo Goodwin have arranged for a Centennial Gala sponsored by Sewell Automotive Companies at the Hilton Anatole’s Chantilly Ballroom on Saturday, April 23.
With a 1920s Art Nouveau-inspired theme, the night will be filled with a full spectrum of activities to celebrate JLD’s decades of service in the Dallas community.
According to Margo, “The Centennial Gala will truly be the celebration of the century! We will be honoring JLD’s legacy and also honoring our members, sponsors, leadership and the non-profit agencies we have supported since our inception.”
In addition to a Centennial exhibit on display, guests will have a seated supper, big board auction and dancing with music provided by Jordan Kahn’s 16-piece dance band Stratosphere sponsored by Dallas Southwest Osteopathic Physicians.
Another goodie will be a raffle of such items as a $5,000 Central Market gift card, a $5,000 PlainsCapital debit card, a $5,000 Dillard’s gift card, a $5,000 dress credit for a Patti Flowers design and a Bachendorf’s Lisa Nik necklace valued at $4,620. Raffle tickets will be going for $25 each or five for $100. Winners don’t need to be present for the drawing.
As Andrea explained, “The Gala will be an exciting conclusion to our week-long celebration of this significant milestone in League history.”
Taking place during the week leading up to the Gala will be the JLD’s Milestones Luncheon on Thursday, April 21, at the Anatole, with businesswoman/writer/TV personality Martha Stewart as keynote speaker and former first lady Laura Bush receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award and Veletta Forsythe Lill being presented the Sustainer of the Year Award.
Sponsorships and tickets for the Gala and/or Luncheon are available here.
