According to New Friends New Life Circle of Friends Community Engagement Co-Chair Tracy Young,
“When I joined the Circle of Friends (COF) of New Friends New Life more than 3 years ago, I joined a local movement to restore and empower trafficked girls and sexually exploited women and their children. Texas ranks second in the nation for the second highest number of trafficking victims in the country, and right here in our city of Dallas, 400 teens are trafficked each night. Now that I know, I must share, and I must invite others. There are real women and teen girls behind the statistics – trafficked women and teens who need someone to believe in them, to love them unconditionally, and to take a stand for them until they can stand for themselves.
“The purpose of the Circle of Friends is to support the mission of New Friends New Life through volunteerism, community awareness, and fundraising. We are group of nearly 300 women from all walks of life who share a common heart for trafficking survivors. Our goal is to make it to 400 COF members – one woman to represent every teen girl being sold on our streets. Some of the activities and events Circle of Friends members participate in include attending Virtual Circles, where we discuss relevant topics like ‘What Every Mom Should Know About Sex Trafficking,’ leading donation drives for Back to School and the upcoming Angel Tree, and hosting events like NFNL’s first-ever Virtual Race to End Sex Trafficking, where runners in 30 different states joined in last March.
“My wish, along with my other dedicated COF board members, is to have more women join us and take a #StandforHer. Through your membership dues that begin at $50 a year, you will help women and teen girls leave the sex industry and become emotionally healthy, financially self-sufficient, and free to live the life of their dreams.”
