According to Family Compass CEO Ona Foster,
“Thank you to the Dallas community for being defenders of childhood, and together with Family Compass, for helping stop child abuse before it starts!
“As we near the end of the year, the families we serve still need our help. During this holiday season, we are sending a gift basket to encourage and support our families. My wish is that you would consider a year-end gift of $100 or more, so that each of our families will receive an Encouragement Basket. As we walk into each family’s home, your gift will do three things:
- “Supply resources, such as crayons, coloring books, games and building blocks to encourage learning, creativity and family time.
- “Provide guidance for families
- “Give hope for a better tomorrow.

“Since our inception in 1992, we have served over 54,000 children and parents. Last year alone, we kept 568 children out of the Child Protective Services system, and at over $831,000 per case cost to address, we saved our community over $472 million dollars. We cannot do it alone; we need the support of the community to help keep the children in our community safe and out of the system.
“In addition to donating a year-end gift, I also hope that everyone will save the date of Monday, April 25, for our annual North Star Luncheon presented by North Dallas Bank and Trust. Chaired by Toni McReynolds and Erin Pope, the North Star Luncheon coincides with April’s Child Abuse Prevention Month and will include a seated lunch, a featured speaker to be announced in January and recognition of the 2022 North Star Award recipient. Support of this important annual fundraiser helps stop child abuse and neglect from happening and creates permanent, sustainable change and hope for a new and better future for children and parents in our community.
“Happy holidays to all and on behalf of the families we serve, thank you!”
