2022 Mad Hatter’s Tea Is Celebrating Its “Dallas” Roots For The Arboretum’s Woman’s Council Fundraiser

Dec 1, 2021 1:30 PM by Jeanne Prejean

The Mad Hatters are going down to their roots for the Dallas Arboretum’s Women’s Council fundraiser. Last night Women’s Council President Lisa Loy Laughlin and 2022 Mad Hatter’s Tea Chair Claire Catrino announced the theme for the 2022 show-and-amaze event at the Arboretum would be “Dallas.”

The announcement was made at Stanley Korshak for a crowd that overwhelmed the valet parkers to a point that driveways to adjacent Crescent retailers/restaurants were stymied. One guest upon leaving the event discovered her car was stuck in the same lineup where she had left it. The only difference was that the engine had been turned off.

Despite the traffic jam, nothing would dissuade the Mad Hatter types like Emilynn Wilson, Venise Stuart, Donna and Herb Weitzman, Marena Gault, Amanda Shufeldt, Dyan Skelton and Jolie Humphrey to learn that the Mad Hatters would take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 20, at the Arboretum.

Tapping family talents, Lisa arranged to have her sister Laura Loy Capps design the event’s graphic that covers everything from the Dallas Zoo to Casa Linda.

Adding to the Dallas feel will be philanthropist Laurie Sands Harrison, who will serve as honorary chair.

Instead of a runway presentation of Tootsies’ fashions, producer Jan Strimple will coordinate a walk-thru by models at a formal afternoon tea.

Funds raised from the topper tea will benefit A Woman’s Garden at the Arboretum.

Stay tuned for announcements of hat categories and judges. Keep those glue guns warmed up.
