According to Dallas Arboretum Board Chair Jim Ryan,
“The holidays are about giving, and we invite your company, service organization, church group and family to give your time to volunteer at Holiday at the Arboretum, presented by Reliant. We’ve added even more exhibits, including an expanded Christmas Village and a new 50-foot-tall Dazzling Musical Tree, and we need volunteers to help us provide holiday cheer now through Friday, December 31st.
“The Christmas Village:
“Volunteers support us as we’ve expanded The Christmas Village with now 20 charming European-style shops and façades that represent a quaint hamlet along with Santa’s House, which features an in-person Santa in between his visits to the North Pole.
“Volunteers are assigned to one of the shops to greet and interact with guests. They also hand out a sample that is related to their particular house in the evenings. For example, in the bakery, volunteers hand out a tiny treat. Shifts are available all week from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. (10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights).
“DeGolyer House:
“We also need volunteers to serve as Room Angels to greet guests and to monitor the ‘The Artistry of the Nativity’ exhibit. This collection features hundreds of crèches representing a variety of cultures from around the world. In addition to the Ray Harrington and the Joe Christian collections, which the Arboretum owns, the display includes three special crèches worth noting: one from the famous costume set designer Peter Hall, an ANRI Bernardi nativity set and a handmade paper-mâché set created by intellectually challenged children from India.
“Volunteer shifts are available seven days a week from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., 1 p.m.-5 p.m. and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
“Groups are welcome, and volunteers must be 14 years old and up. To volunteer, visit https://www.dallasarboretum.org/support/volunteer/, email [email protected], or call 214.515.6561.
“Join us in one of the most beautiful gardens in Dallas!”
