If ever North Texas had a picture-perfect night, it was on Saturday, October 16. At least that’s how it seemed at one of the area’s little-known treasures — Trinity River Audubon Center. The reason for the stream of cars with folks like Laura and Walter Elcock, Garrett Boone, Tony Moore, Maria May, Kimberly and Shannon Wynne, Dan Podolsky, Daffodil Baez, Michelle Wong, Lois Finkelman, Melinda and A.C. Gonzalez and Honorary Chair Mary McDermott Cook entering the 130-acre park was the Songbird Supper chaired by Grace Cook.
In addition to being a fundraiser, the event was also an awareness raiser. In addition to the cocktail reception in the Center’s Antoine Predock-designed LEED-certified building, the seated supper took place at a table that seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see for guests to dine among Mother Nature’s showcase of natural beauty. So many folks showed up that Center Director Shelly White was worried they wouldn’t have enough chairs.
