2022 St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon And Fashion Show Chair Lisa Loy Laughlin fashionably kicked off the Leukemia And Lymphoma Society of North Texas‘ fundraiser on Monday, September 27, at the Lela Rose salon in Highland Park Village. With a group of committee members and friends on the scene, Lisa revealed the awardees and other details for the event at the Meyerson on Monday, February 7. Ah, but what wasn’t revealed at the event were the participating HPV merchants. Here’s a report from the field with a list of the participating retailers at the end:
St. Valentine’s Day Luncheon And Fashion Show event leadership and host committee members gathered at Lela Rose at Highland Park Village for a kick off celebration on Monday, September 27, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Luncheon chair Lisa Loy Laughlin and Lela Rose manager Jessica Smotherman welcomed more than 35 attendees to the reception, which included small bites and specialty cocktails from Lela Rose’s cookbook. Partygoers including Kendell Laughlin, Katina Thornton, Amanda Albritton, Jennifer LeLash, Kunthear Mam-Douglas, Dr. Carla Russo, Regina Bruce and Wendy Messmann mingled and also shopped the newest Lela Rose collections, with a percentage of proceeds benefiting the Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.
Mid-way through the evening, the crowd gathered in the outdoor courtyard for announcements. LLS Executive Director Leah Swanson welcomed guests and thanked them for their support of LLS and the 2022 Saint Valentine’s Day luncheon. Laughlin followed and added her gratitude to all in attendance before recognizing event leadership including Advisory Co-Chairs Nancy Gopez, Maggie Kipp and Melinda Knowles; Underwriting Chair Amy Turner; Kick-Off Party Co-Chairs Elsa Norwood and Katherine Coker; Auction Co-Chairs Cathleen Griffith and Rachel Michell; Table Sales Co-Chairs Arden Ellis and Lindsay Jacaman; Fund the Fight Chair Yvette Ostolaza and Children’s Co-Chairs Kate Ryan and Lora Grabowsky.
It was then time for the much-anticipated announcement of the 2022 honorees:
- Susie Barnett, recipient of the Lynda Adleta Heart of Gold Award, given to a family or individual who is philanthropic in the community and has a “heart of gold” and a passion for LLS’ mission to help fight blood cancers.
- Amelia Dammen, recipient of the Spirit of Tom Landry Award, given to a youth age 5-18 who has battled blood cancer.
- The late Tom Landry, recipient of the Memorial Hero Award, which recognizes an individual in the community who has passed away and who battled blood cancer.
Laughlin closed by encouraging everyone to tell their friends and colleagues about the Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show which will be held on Monday, February 7, at Meyerson. Event highlights will include a champagne reception and a runway fashion show produced by Jan Strimple and featuring fashions by Highland Park Village – all followed by a seated luncheon.
