There was a new fellow hanging out in front of the Carolina Herrera salon in Highland Park Village the evening of Thursday, September 16. His name was Ranger and he, along with his blonde pal, Dare, were showstoppers. New to the area, he was quickly a babe magnet. Equest Women’s Auxiliary Founder Louise Griffeth couldn’t resist the newest member of the Equest mini-ambassador program.
But Ranger and Dare weren’t there to shop. They were the welcoming committee for the Women’s Auxiliary of Equest‘s Fashion Show and Luncheon patron party. Inside the salon with Herrera rose print pattern chairs, manager Morgan Williams had everything ready for the 30 expected guests. Luckily she was prepared if some extra guests showed up, and they did.
Louise apologized if she had a hint of kitty. Seems before heading to the event, she had to stop by her grand cats to check on them. Seems son Teal Griffeth and his wife Annie Griffeth were on a road trip that included Santa Fe and Crested Butte leaving their kitties in Louise’s care.
Another guest who was in grandparent duty mode was Melissa Macatee, who was juggling her aging grand-cat as well as her babysitting for grandchild. To add to her “when it rains, it pours” scenario, she had royally “stubbed” her toe a day before. She declared that the moment she left the salon, she was shedding her heels.
Other catch-up talk: Claire Emanuelson’s solo days were soon coming to an end with the return of husband Dwight Emanuelson, who’d been fishing in Wyoming. When asked about her New Orleans-based father, Dick Stephens, Claire recounted how recently the oldest World War II vet, who had been living in New Orleans, had just died at the age of 112. Claire proclaimed that thanks to Dick’s Cajun mother’s genes, Dick would beat that record.
Equest Women’s Auxiliary President Katy Layton started the program by welcoming the guests, including Luncheon Honorary Chair Nancy Carter, fashion producer Jan Strimple, Angie Kadesky, Tiffany Divis, Di Johnston, Elsa Norwood, Lisa Loy Laughlin, Emilynn Wilson, Vicky Lattner, Lili Kellogg and Christie Carter.
Standing next to Katy was Equest Luncheon Chair/Katy’s mom Beth Layton, who held a poster board revealing the following raffle items:
- Akris Collage patchwork bag (Value: $1,000)
- Carolina Herrera silver heart chain necklace (Value: $1,080)
- Etro black leather Pegaso shoulder bag (Value: $1,420)
- Garden Gate six months of floral arrangements (Value: $750)
- Highland Park Village restaurant Dine-A-Round gift cards (Value: $500 with specific restaurants to be named)
- Jimmy Choo black JC logo wallet (Value: $350)
- Lela Rose gift certificate (Value: $1,000)
- John reception for ten and $500 in merchandise (Value: $1,000)
If you’ve got your reservation for the luncheon for the annual fundraiser at Brook Hollow Golf Club on Tuesday, October 5, then you have a chance to snap up one of the items since tickets will only be sold at the luncheon. They’ll be going for $25 per ticket or five for $100.
